Mindset is critical for leaders. It is the core of every person. It encompasses the attitudes, beliefs, and values of us humans. As a new leader, there are several mindsets that you should cultivate to be effective in your role. Here are a few key mindsets to consider:

  1. Growth mindset: As leaders, you need to be committed to continual learning and improvement. This means having a growth mindset, which involves embracing challenges, persisting through obstacles, and seeing failures as opportunities for learning and growth.

  2. Servant mindset: Good leaders are focused on serving their teams and organizations, not just themselves. This means you need to be willing to listen to others, put the needs of others before your own, and be committed to helping your team succeed.

  3. Results-oriented mindset: Leaders need to be focused on achieving results and delivering value to their organizations. This means setting clear goals and measuring progress. Management by presence is outdated. With today's way of work, you cannot control when, where, and what your team members are doing. The only thing that counts is their output.

  4. Innovative mindset: If you want to be an effective leader, you constantly look for ways to innovate and improve your area of responsibility. This means you want to be open to new ideas, take calculated risks, and encourage creativity and experimentation.

  5. Resilient mindset: Times are challenging, volatile, unpredictable, increasingly complex, and ambiguous (VUCA). As a leader, you need to weather the ups and downs of leadership and maintain your focus and commitment through challenging times. Ideally, you bounce back from setbacks, stay optimistic, and maintain a positive attitude even in the face of adversity.

Do these mindsets make sense to you?

Can you think of ways to develop them because they don't come from one day to another?
